Steel Fixing Wagga Wagga
& the Riverina.
MJK Contracting installs reinforcement across Wagga Wagga and southern NSW. We are on the ground here now, delivering the structural steel fixing package on a 36-unit NSW Government housing project.
Already mobilised in Wagga. Not learning it on your job.
MJK has crews working in Wagga Wagga right now, delivering the full structural steel fixing package on a 36-unit social housing project for Zauner Construction and NSW Land and Housing Corporation. Our fixers travel in and stay local for the duration of the run — which is how regional reinforcement actually gets delivered.
Regional work rarely fails on skill. It fails on attendance, and on arrangements nobody wrote down. A crew that turns up for a fortnight and drifts back to the coast costs a builder far more than a slow quote ever did.
So we settle it before anyone gets in a ute: crew size, mobilisation, travel, accommodation and weekend coverage, agreed in writing and priced into the number you are comparing. Nothing arrives later as a variation. We won this job through open tender, completed head contractor onboarding before mobilising, and we are running it through to structural completion.
If you are building in the Riverina, we already know what it takes to run a fixing crew here — because we are doing it.

LAHC Wagga Wagga
36 Social Housing Units
Strip footings and pier cages, lift pits, ground slabs and beams, columns, stairs and suspended slabs across two South Parade sites, for head contractor Zauner Construction under the Building Homes for NSW program.
Reinforcement, installed properly.
We are a labour-only reinforcement subcontractor. We do not supply steel and we do not bundle margin into materials you can buy better yourself. You engage us for the installation — placing, tying and positioning reinforcement to the engineer’s drawings, ready for inspection and pour.
Slabs
Ground slabs, waffle pod, suspended slabs and slab beams.
Footings
Strip and pad footings, pier cages and pile caps.
Walls & columns
Blade walls, core walls, columns, ligatures and starter bars.
Lift pits & plant rooms
Pits, plant room bases and the awkward details other crews leave until last.
Stairs & suspended slabs
Flights, landings and suspended structures as the building goes up.
Civil structures
Pits, tanks, headwalls, culverts and drainage structures.
Wagga Wagga and the wider Riverina.
These are the towns our Riverina crews cover. Travel and accommodation for regional work is set out at quote stage, so you can see exactly what it costs before you commit.
We also cover Greater Sydney, Wollongong and the Illawarra, and the Southern Highlands.
A reinforcement subcontractor, not a gamble.
Reinforcement is all we do.
We are not a concreter who also fixes steel. It shows in set-out, in how quickly a crew reads an unfamiliar schedule, and in how few RFIs come back off our work.
Regional arrangements, agreed upfront.
Crew size, mobilisation, travel, accommodation and weekend coverage are settled in writing before we mobilise and priced into the quote. Not a variation in week three.
We know we are on the critical path.
Steel fix is the last thing between formwork and a pour. If it runs late, everything behind it moves. We plan crew against your programme, not our convenience.
Crews stay for the run.
Our fixers travel in and stay local for the duration rather than commuting daily. Same faces, continuous run, and weekend coverage when a pour date is tight.
Built for head contractor systems.
HammerTech inductions, SWMS per task, insurances current and verified, monthly claims against an agreed contract. Pre-qualified on NSW Government housing work.
Straight answers on dates.
You will get an honest read on whether we can hit your programme. If we cannot, we will say so before you have built a schedule around us.
Steel fixing in the Riverina, answered.
Do you do steel fixing in Wagga Wagga?
Yes. MJK Contracting has crews working in Wagga Wagga now, delivering the structural reinforcement package on a 36-unit NSW Land and Housing Corporation social housing project for Zauner Construction.
Do you charge for mobilisation, travel and accommodation on Riverina jobs?
Yes. Our fixers travel to the Riverina and stay local for the duration of the run, so regional work carries mobilisation, travel and accommodation. We set those out clearly at quote stage so they sit inside the price you are comparing rather than arriving later as a variation. Because we are already established in Wagga Wagga, we know what those costs actually are rather than guessing at them.
What areas of the Riverina do you cover?
Wagga Wagga, Albury, Griffith, Junee, Temora, Tumut, Cootamundra, Leeton, Narrandera, Gundagai and the surrounding towns. If your job is somewhere else in southern NSW, call and ask.
What is steel fixing?
Steel fixing, also called reinforcement installation or reo fixing, is placing, tying and positioning steel reinforcing bar inside formwork before a concrete pour. Bar marks have to match the schedule, laps have to meet the specified length, and cover has to be right on every face, because cover is what stops the steel corroding and the concrete spalling in ten years time. Starter bars have to finish in the right position, because the next trade builds off them.
Do you supply the reinforcement steel?
No. We are labour-only. You supply the steel and the schedule; we supply the crew and the installation. Builders generally buy steel better than a subcontractor can mark it up.
How do you charge for reinforcement work?
Three formats: labour-only day rates, a fixed price quoted against the drawings and schedule, or a tonnage-based arrangement where the schedule is settled. Regional jobs carry the mobilisation and accommodation arrangement on top, set out separately so you can see it. We will tell you which format suits your job.
How quickly can you quote?
Send the drawings, the reinforcement schedule and the programme. You will get a rate or a price, a suggested crew size and an honest read on your dates inside 48 hours.
Are you insured and compliant?
Yes. MJK Contracting Pty Ltd holds current public liability and workers compensation insurance, with certificates of currency available on request. All crew hold current White Cards and work under site-specific SWMS. We have maintained a 100% safety record since 2021.
Do you take residential work as well as commercial?
Yes. Government and commercial projects, builder-led residential, and homeowner projects where a dedicated reinforcement crew makes sense.
